About Gina

Advocacy, commitment and dedication are the foundation that Gina Harris works from as a relentless voice for the voiceless, her students.  As an elementary teacher in a district that is predominately students of color, Gina works to ensure equitable educational opportunities for our students.  Equity has been at the forefront of Gina’s teaching career and work within the Illinois Education Association. As Human and Civil Rights Committee Chair, Gina has implemented statewide measures to ensure and promote diverse involvement of members in leadership.  

Most importantly, Gina leads with integrity, clarity and authenticity.  She has over 15 years experiencing in corporate management and left that to pursue a career in teaching. She works at the local level to forge and develop community partnerships through mentoring, that connect students with valuable tools for self growth, leadership and peacebuilding activities. Her experience as a local vice president, past treasurer, region representative and grassroots political activist demonstrate her ongoing commitment to developing the full potential in our youth.
